More Information
In February 2011, we will host the first annual Sled for a Cure ride to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. Cancer affects the lives of all Canadians, an estimated 1 out of every 4 Canadians are expected to die from cancer. With those numbers the more money raised for cancer research the better the odds to find a cure and to improve those statistics.
Sled for a Cure is a one day event that will take place on the trails of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) and Mid Ontario Snowmobile Trails (MOST) in the beginning of February 2011. The ride will be approximately 150km run with a free lunch and a meet and greet in the evening with prize giveaways at The Penalty Box in Barrie. The cost to join this event is $50. Participants are required to possess valid trail permit, insurance and plate sticker. Special event trail permits can be purchased through an OFSC office for a fee of approximately $35. Each rider is asked to try and raise a minimum of $250 in pledges. Top pledge earners will qualify to win prizes from some of our corporate sponsors.
There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 draw at the reception. The greatest reason for joining this cause is that everyone is touched by cancer. Some are touched by certain types of cancers such as; breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer and the list goes on. If you would like your donation and pledges to go to a particular cancer fund, the money you raised will be allocated to the cancer research area you specify. Our goal is to raise over $100,000 with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society!
